The Youth of the World Have Their Say

We Are Teenagers - Hear Us Cry

A word which sends chills down many adultís spines. Once upon a time, the word just meant a person of the age 13-19. But now, teenagers are labeled as hooligans, vandilizers and all-over bad people. But is this stereotype really fair? Are teenagers truly as bad as adults describe them?

Coming of Age in Colombia:
"No Podemos Perder La Esperanza"

It is hard to describe what it feels to be a young Colombian. I am proud of my culture, my customs, my family, and my people. I believe in my country's potential. I want to live there, work there, and I want my kids to grow up in my country. However, while it is hard to accept, the reality is that a protracted armed conflict is destroying my nation.

What is Wicca?

Wicca is an ancient religion that deals with the supernatural and magickal aspects of life. It is also a fairly new religion; though it was one of the first neo-pagan religions, it is actually witchcraft that is ancient. Witchcraft is a large part of Wicca, but it is not all. You do not have to be a witch to be Wiccan, and you do not have to be Wiccan to be a witch.

How the Death Penalty is Killing America

I would like to present you with information on capital punishment, particularly the cost, effectiveness, and moral issues surrounding it, and I hope that you will consider your thoughts on capital punishment in more detail. Our generation has a chance to change these unjust and barbaric laws in the near future and we should take the opportunity to do so.

Breaking the Chains of Apathy

David Lau breaks the stereotype of apathic, disengaged youth.

"In fact, we are always in a permanent crisis: a crisis between the central questions that affect the policy of the government, between what is right and wrong, ethical and unethical. The revolutionary writers believed that every citizen that lived in America should exercise their voice and opinion, an idea that still is relevant today."

It's All About Birthrights

Where, and to whom, you were born makes a big difference in life, as Xenia Cherkaev found out.

"To realize why such a tremendous gap exists, one would have to consider the fact that the world economy at the present time is based on capitalism, and capitalism demands a pool of unemployed laborers. The first world is basically using the whole third world as that pool of unemployed laborers."
