Site Notes
Sometime in the next two or three weeks we’ll be dismantling much of Human Beams, in order to build it back up again. There are a couple of reasons for this.
One, when we first switched to this software (expression engine) we really had little idea what we were doing. I never did figure it out, but arin did and is expert now, so we are going to rebuild from the ground up, using this knowledge. It should turn out pretty cool (although you may not notice much change).
Now, the site won’t be completely closed - we’ll have the Stalking Sunlight blog still (which may or may not be undergoing a name change); we’ll also be starting what will become the anchor for the site, a main blog on the Human Beams front page, which will focus on our areas of social justice, human rights, the earth and so on - only not so much on problems as on the solutions.
It’ll take some time to get that going and to, hopefully, sign up weekly or so guest bloggers in various areas (anyone interested or wanting more information can email me at nanette at humanbeams dot com) and the rest of the site (besides this blog) will be closed (or, at least, inactive, but still accessible through direct links) until we have a good readership and contacts built up on the Human Beams blog.
Okay, and what else… oh! I have to give a shout out to our server that we have Human Beams on, site5.com . Great prices and all that (but who doesn’t have that nowadays) but also their customer service simply amazing. I’ve had two occasions to email them when I had issues with the site and both times they fixed the problem and answered almost, it seemed, before I got the problem ticket written! Super responsive, they are. So, here’s to them, a great team they’ve put together.
