Seeking light in a murky world

fishy goings on

by Melonhead99

We’ve all read of the pircacy around places like Kenya, Somalia and the like, African Pirates capturing, sinking and ransoming vessels.  But how much have we read of the longterm problems of illegal fishing, by ships from as far away as China, EU and South Africa, as well as other places, massive trawlers using internationally banned fishing equipment to fish in protected waters off the coast of East Africa, looking for the Yellow Fin Tuna, the livelihood of many poor African fishermen being stripped away, some of these fishermen turning to piracy as the only form of income left open?.

There are Navy ships from America, France, India, Canada, Australia, to name but a few, patrolling these nations to stop the piracy, but let me ask, when was the last time you heard of one of these ships stopping illegal fishing?  Maybe they do stop it, I don’t know, but the fishing vessels can’t be that hard to spot surely, and there is massive ammounts of this illegal fishing going on?
