Someone may have already posted this on this blog, I’m not sure, video of some bloke making the arguement for action on climate change, I’ll post a link to a blog with the youtube videoes attached, save me looking

anyway, I watched the first one, quite good, though both in column A should have resulted in the same great depression.

Then I watched the second, again quite good, old arguement of course, better to do something and be wrong and look stupid, than do nothing and wrong and everyone dies or something, but did get me thinking in a world, ever increasing population, food shortages, brimming with arms and paranoir, can we risk a massive economic depression, we already see America on the edge of possible collapse, is it wise to put extra pressure on the economy with climate change action?

We are talking here about a nation brimming with enough nukes and chemical and biological weapons to wipe out the human race, if the cost of of tackling climate change is this power being overtaken by others, the American people seeing themselves being left behind by newer emerging economic powers more able to adapt from a fresher starting base and exploit the new world situation, then might not we see an even worse situation than that poised by global warming, we all know from history, world superpowers on the way down, will do some pretty extreme things to try and hold onto the top rung of the world ladder, and now we have a top player, not just able to shoot some savages, destroy the odd town or city, but to wipe out the world?

Just a thought on my behalf :)
