That’s the title of this AP article: .... which I am not quoting any of and probably shouldn’t put a link to, cuz I’ve just remembered catching a glimpse of something about a lawsuit and a boycott? Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of the howling over the past week on the lefyish sites… I don’t read the rightwing ones, usually, so I’ll take the AP’s word for it that conservatives are howling too. Me, I’ve said often that I am not so much an Obama supporter (too far to the right for me even when people thought he was a liberal) so much as a supporter of his infrastructure and ground game (something I still need to write about), which I’m sure is very busy in the background while he’s giving speeches and causing heads to asplode. I’m also really curious to see what a "community organizer in chief" presidency would be like.
Still, the events of this past week or so made me think of that old public relations adage… when you have bad news or bad exposure - "Get it out. Get it all out. Get it ALL out RIGHT NOW!" By the time August rolls around (and beyond) people will either have come to terms with his views (or have changed them through activism) and will have decided that any Democrat is better than the Republican or will have peeled off completely and gone on to become Republicans or Greens or something. As some always do, each election. Fun stuff.

Hi Lisa! Thanks for visiting and commenting and also for the invite to read your blog. I’ll definitely do so. Nah, Obama isn’t Superman or even close to it (except maybe to his daughters, but they’re young yet ;), and I hold no ...or maybe I should say few.. illusions that he is any less corporatist or self serving than the next politician. However! I do think that with the infrastructure that is being put into place (both run by his campaign and also off shoots by those aligned with and trained by his campaign) that there is a real possibility for movement in the future. Should be wish to, or be able to, take advantage of it. We’ll see, though.

I’m not enthusiastic about Obama either, but I’ll vote for him if it’s close in my state (If either candidate opens up a double digit lead, I’ll vote for McKinney). But Obama winning is important for two reasons. One, things will get worse at a much slower pace if Obama is president compared to the rocketsled to hell McCain will keep us on, and two, it’ll be the best fun ever watching racist heads exploding. Maybe one day I’ll be able to vote for someone again. Sigh.

Doc, I know exactly how you feel when it comes to “tactical voting"… Been there, done that - repeatedly. Sucks, but you may end up kicking yourself for not doing it.

Back in 1992, there was a young man, first of his generation to run for president. He inspired young people, and had an amazing gift for oratory and phenomenal skill at campaigning. He beat great odds to win first his party’s nomination, and then the presidency. It took about ten minutes in office before he began selling out the left. I hope our nation’s collective memory is not that short. I’ll vote for Obama, not enthusiastically, but I will vote for him. And I’ll hope history doesn’t repeat itself. Hello there!
I am new to your blog so I bring you greetings from Black Women, Blow The Trumpet! ....and I appreciate your photo with Obama in his Superman stance!! *LOL*
Superman he certainly is NOT! *LOL*
Your observation is correct that many voters would rather have an idealistic, PAC-pleasing Democrat in the Oval office than an out-of-touch, (and possibly senile) Republican.
{shrugs}
